Backstage Pass KL #13: Built To Last

Description
Every event begins with the hope it will live long and prosper beyond the organiser. Still, the greatest challenge is to sustain its success over time and fluctuating audience interests. In our 13th edition, we shine the spotlight on long-standing organisers to learn how they’ve innovated their platforms to last.

Backstage Pass by Peatix is a community event for event organisers to exchange lessons, connect with people who enable events and grow as a group.

Themed ‘Built to Last’, we will be garnering insights in these four key areas:
  • How to retain audiences over long periods of time
  • How to consistently innovate to keep content fresh and attract new audiences
  • Documentation and archiving to make content more accessible to audiences who can’t attend.
  • Effective marketing to get the right people into the room (from poster and event page design to continuous engagement)
Featuring:
1. Lim Shang Yi, Google Developer Group Kuala Lumpur / full stack developer
2. Prakash Daniel, One Mic Stand / stand-up comedian
3. Sumitra Selvaraj, Sarees and Stories / TV showrunner
4. Arin Sharnaz Rashdi, Sifters Asia founder

SIFTERS RECORDS is the living legacy of a record store in Manchester, England. Peter Howard started selling records 40 years ago to music enthusiasts and aspiring musicians. Among those musicians were Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis, who namedrop Peter as “Mr Sifters” in their single in 1994, “Shakermaker”. With the record store immortalised in song, it inevitably became the spot for kids to buy their first records and for visiting collectors to stop by. SIFTERS ASIA is Asia’s response to the Sifters’ legacy. Its goal is to bring in and uphold Sifters’ reputation for quality music and records to Asian consumers, becoming the one-stop hub for Asian music enthusiasts and musicians both established and aspiring to listen to and buy great music.

Am I considered an "event organiser?" Peatix encourages events of all kinds to blossom - anything from tech talks, workshops and classes to theatre, art performances to parties, gigs to private dinners and gatherings. So yes, you're probably one without knowing it.
I provide relevant services (audio-visual services, photobooth rental, app) - can I attend? Yes, we're an inclusive community. At the same time, organisers prefer to mostly meetother organisers. We require vendors to pay a higher entry of RM30 and respect that this event is not a platform for selling services.
Why can't I buy more than 4 tickets in one transaction? Diversity is important to us - come meet new friends!
Vegetarian food? Yes! Please let us know in advance.
Why isn't the event free? We serve food at wonderful venues. The price is not designed to be a barrier - we offer discounts to students, youths and dreamers.
What's your refund policy? We understand that things may crop up. Feel free to transfer your ticket or approach us for a refund.
Can I pay at the door? Yes you can, but at $35.
Are you looking for partners? Glad you asked - please drop us a line.
Who organises this? The community team at Peatix Malaysia.
